Bicentennial Information

Jackson County was formed on January 1, 1816. Several months later, on April 8th, the city of Brownstown was platted becoming the Jackson County seat of government; and, on December 11th of the same year, Indiana became the 19th state of the Union. In 2016, the 200th anniversaries of Jackson County, Brownstown and the State of Indiana will be celebrated. The Bicentennial Planning Committee of Jackson County, Indiana is a non-profit organization that has been formed to plan and organize events in preparation for the year-long celebration.

Volunteer

Over the next few months several new subcommittees will be organized to strategize, schedule and carry out 2016 bicentennial events. There are many ways to provided support; just pitch in where you can. Request more information here.
